<p> [[Clerk]] (Or Clerke), John (1), D.D., </p> <p> an English prelate, was made dean of [[Windsor]] in 1519, and pro-rooted to the see of Bath and Wells March 23, 1523. He died Jan. 3, 154l. He presented to Leo X the treatise of Henry VIII against Luther, under the title Oratio ad Leonem X in Exhibitione Libelli Regii Henrici VIII [[Contra]] Lutherem; cure [[Palace]] Responsione, etc. (Lond. 1521).
