Theodotus . 1 . One of the messengers sent by Nicanor to Judas Maccabæus ( 2Ma 14:19 ). 2 . The author of a plot to assassinate king Ptolemy Philopator, which was frustrated by Dositheus ( 3M  Malachi 1:2 ).

(1) One of the three ambassadors sent by the Syrian general Nicanor to Judas to make peace ( 2 Maccabees 14:19 ).

(2) One who plotted to assassinate Ptolemy Philopator, but was prevented by a Jew, Dositheos (3Macc 1:2 f).
