<p> Dies (or Diaz), Gaspar </p> <p> a Portuguese painter, sometimes called "the Portuguese Raphael," flourished about 1525, and was instructed in the school of [[Michael]] [[Angelo]] at Rome. On his return to [[Portugal]] he executed, by order of the king, a number of excellent pictures for the churches.
