After having passed many years in a hermitage in the desert of Mount Carmel, he sailed to Sicily, believing that God had called him thither to convert the inhabitants. By his holy example and earnest labors he effected much good, but was assassinated by Belingar (or Berenger), May 5, 1220. His festival is kept on May 5. See Baillet, May. </p>
