a Congregational minister, was born at Watertown, Connecticut, May 21, 1780. He graduated at Yale College in 1803, entered the ministry 1805, and was ordained pastor of the First Church, Guilford, December 10, 1806. He resigned June 8, 1842, and a year after was sent as missionary to Iowa by the Amer. Home Miss. Society. He accepted a call in 1843 from the church in Burlington, and returned to prepare for his removal, but was taken ill, and remained in New Haven until his death, June 1849.
