He was converted at the age of twenty-five, and soon after he began to speak in public, and, with his brother John, travelled and labored for seven years. His first effort at preaching was at Alton. His ordination' occurred at the October term of the New Durham. Quarterly Meeting, 1794. Subsequently he travelled very extensively in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, where his labors were greatly blessed.' He organized and assisted in organizing' many churches, and baptized more than one thousand persons. He was held in high esteem in Strafford, Vt., his residence of more than half :a century, where he died, in October, 1854. See Free will Baptist Register, 1856, p. 90. (J. C. S.) </p>
