Hermann Hedwig Bernard [1]

was born of Jewish parents at Uman in Russia, in 1785. In 1830 he was appointed teacher of languages at Cambridge, England,. and died Nov. 15, 1857. He is the author of The Main Principles of the Creed and Ethics of the Jews Exhibited in Selections from the Yad Hachazakah of Maimonides, with a Literal English Translation, etc. (Cambridge, 1822).
