==References == |
Bristow (Or Bristolius), [[Richard]]

an Englishman in Roman orders, was born at [[Worcester]] in 1533. He was educated at [[Exeter]] College, Oxford, lived first at Louvain, and then at the English College at [[Douay]] at a time when it was not safe for one of his sect to remain in England. He was the first of that college to be made a priest, being the right hand of cardinal Allen, who, departing to Rheims, left Bristow prefect of Douay College. He was afterwards sent for to Rheims, where he wrote his book, [[Contra]] Futilems Fulcrum. He returned to his native land for his health, and died in London in 1582: He also collected, and for the most part wrote, Annotations on the English [[Translation]] of the New Testament, at Rheims, and some minor works.
