Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature [6]
(Hebrews Kelubay', כְּלוּבִי ; Sept. Χαλέβ ) one of the sons of Hezron ( 1 Chronicles 2:9); elsewhere ( 1 Chronicles 5:18) called CALEB (See Caleb) (q.v.). It is worth noting that, while in this passage Jerahmeel is stated to be a brother of Chelubai, it appears from 1 Samuel 27:10, that the Jerahmeelites were placed on the " south of Judah," where also were the possessions of the house of Caleb ( Judges 1:15; 1 Samuel 25:3; 1 Samuel 30:14).
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia [7]
ke - loo´bı̄ ( כּלוּבי , kelūbhāy ): Another form of Caleb used in 1 Chronicles 2:9; compare 1 Chronicles 2:18 , 1 Chronicles 2:42 . Caleb is here described as the brother of Jerahmeel, and son of Hezron, a remote ancestor, instead of as the son of Jephunneh. See Caleb .
