JEREMY . The form in which the name of the prophet Jeremiah appears in both AV [Note: Authorized Version.] and RV [Note: Revised Version.] of 1Es 1:28; 1Es 1:32; 1Es 1:47; 1Es 1:57; 1Es 2:1 , Esther 2:18 Esther 2:18 , as well as in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] of Malachi 2:1 Malachi 2:1; 2Ma 2:5; Malachi 2:7 Malachi 2:7 , Matthew 2:17; Matthew 27:9 . In the last three passages RV [Note: Revised Version.] has Jeremiah . The form Jeremy is used also in both AV [Note: Authorized Version.] and RV [Note: Revised Version.] in the title of the Epistle ascribed to the prophet in Bar 6:1 . See art. Apocrypha, § 10 .
