He was baptized in early life, began to preach in 1809, was two years in the Abergavenny Academy, and then for seven years pastor of the small [[Church]] of Llannefyd and Llansannan. In 1823 he removed to Cefimawr, which was his residence for thirty-five years, during twenty-nine of which he was pastor of the Church in that place. Considering the imperfection of his early education, he became a more than ordinarily cultured scholar, and wrote, The [[Peculiar]] Tenets of the Baptists, and A History of the Baptists, Based on the Fundamental [[Principles]] of their System.
