a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born at Frankfort-on-the-Main, September 30, 1516. He studied at Wittenberg under Luther and Melanchthon. In 1545 he was called to his native place as preacher. At that time Calvinism flourished at Frankfort, and yet Beyer at last succeeded in founding a Lutheran Church in 1554.
