He received a careful religious training; experienced conversion at the age of sixteen, and, after spending several years as exhorter and local preacher, he, in 1840, entered the [[Philadelphia]] Conference. In 1868 he became superannuated, and remained so till his death, Oct. 21,1871. Mr. Arthur was amiable, frank, generous, confiding, sincere, uniform, and uncompromising. a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born near Radnor, Pa., May 4, 1818. He received a careful religious training; experienced conversion at the age of sixteen, and, after spending several years as exhorter and local preacher, he, in 1840, entered the Philadelphia Conference.
