He entered Jefferson College, .Pa., where he graduated with the honors of his class in 1812. In 1814 he entered [[Princeton]] Theological Seminary, N. J.; in 1816. was ordained by the New [[Brunswick]] Presbytery, and went to Wilmington, N. C., and after laboring there a short time was called to the pastorate of a [[Church]] in Alexandria, Va. In 1837 he was elected to the chair of languages in the Ohio University. He died Feb. 14, 1867. See Wilson, Presb. Hist. Almanac, 1868, p. 192. </p>
