"filthy, dirty," is used (a) literally, of old shabby clothing, James 2:2 , "vile;" (b) metaphorically, of moral defilement, Revelation 22:11 (in the best texts). In the Sept., Zechariah 3:3,4 .
"evil," is translated "vile" in Acts 17:5 , RV (AV, "lewd"). See Bad , Evil.
