Hastings' Dictionary of the New Testament [1]
Achim ( Ἀχείμ).—An ancestor of Joseph, according to the genealogy of our Lord in St. Matthew’s Gospel ( Matthew 1:14). The name may be a shortened form of Jehoiachim , or it may be for Ahiam (cf. 1 Chronicles 11:35) or Jachin (cf. Genesis 46:10).
