<p> a Universalist minister, was born at Bennington, Vermont, in 1812. He was trained by the strictest sort of Methodist parents, became a Universalist in faith at the age of eighteen, studied medicine in early manhood, and after practicing it a few years entered the ministry of the Universalist Church. He was ordained in 1843, and labored in some of the Eastern States, in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. He died suddenly, August 19, 1871. Mr. [[Bruce]] was an impressive and acceptable preacher. See Universalist Register, 1872, page 152. </p>
