Absque Misericordia , and as it is rendered in the Auth.Vers.,  Hosea 2:23, "not obtained mercy"), the name divinely appointed for the first daughter of the prophet Hosea by the formerly dissolute Gomer, a type of Jehovah's temporary rejection of his people by the Babylonian captivity in consequence of their idolatry ( Hosea 1:6;  Hosea 2:23; comp. 2:1).
