While yet a youth he became a pupil of the Jesuits, and a member of the Order of the [[Reformed]] Franciscans. He was especially active in promoting the doctrine of the immaculate conception. He died about the middle of the 18th century, and was sainted by [[Pius]] VI in 1796. </p>
